James “Jim” Healey
James “Jim” Healey is a writer for SRB Communications and has been a professional journalist since 1975.
Healey was a business writer for the Des Moines Register in Des Moines, Iowa and then spent 27 years at USA Today as an auto writer and columnist. Recognized as one of the nation’s top auto reviewers, he won national awards for his coverage of little-known auto safety compromises that were made to boost fuel economy, and coverage of fatal auto crashes caused by defective Firestone tires used on the Ford Explorer. He also co-wrote articles that pointed out safety problems with auto airbags and resulted in an overhaul of U.S. federal safety regulations.
Since retiring from USA Today in 2015, he has written for Consumers Digest, Trucks.com and AARP. Healey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and communications from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
